Private minivan taxi
Best for: arrivals, groups, families, luggage, remote villas and nights out. Door-to-door, air-conditioned, fixed price. The easy, stress-free choice โ this is what we do.
Koh Phangan has no public bus network and no metered taxis. Roads range from smooth coastal highway to steep, twisting concrete hills โ some so steep that rental companies won't cover them. How you get around really depends on where you're staying, how many of you there are, and how confident you feel on two wheels.
Your options
Best for: arrivals, groups, families, luggage, remote villas and nights out. Door-to-door, air-conditioned, fixed price. The easy, stress-free choice โ this is what we do.
Best for: solo budget travel on main routes. Shared pickup trucks priced per person; you may wait for it to fill and share stops. Fewer run after dark.
Best for: confident riders exploring at their own pace. Cheap and freeing โ but the hills are dangerous, accidents are common, and you need a proper licence and insurance.
Best for: beaches with no road access, like Bottle Beach or Haad Yuan. Long-tail boats run in season and around the Full Moon Party.
Best for: self-drive families who want their own wheels. Comfortable, but parking is tight in Thong Sala and the hills are demanding.
Best for: getting around your own beach or Thong Sala town. Fine for short hops, but distances between areas are too far and too hilly to walk.
For your airport or ferry arrival, a pre-booked private transfer is by far the easiest โ someone's waiting, your bags are handled, and you go straight to your hotel. For exploring, many confident solo travellers rent a scooter, while families and groups are far more comfortable in a private minivan or on a guided island tour. For nights out and the Full Moon Party, always arrange a taxi both ways โ see our Full Moon Party guide.
Wherever you're headed on the island, Mr M will get you there comfortably and safely.
